This newsletter shares the good news of the Finnish game industry once a month. The content is intended to be an interesting news roundup both for separate newsletter subscribers and for media representatives interested in games.

In March 2026, the Finnish games industry delivered a wide range of new releases, updates, and experiments spanning from indie titles to major content expansions and mobile launches. In addition, legendary composer Ari Pulkkinen is once again available for new projects, playables.ai brings interactivity into advertising, the Sustainable Games Alliance introduced new tools to improve energy efficiency, and the Transmedia Game Jam advanced collaboration between games and other creative industries.

1. New Game Releases and Updates in March 2026

Antti Tiihonen, known for the Legend of Grimrock games, released a trailer for his upcoming action RPG called Reconfigure. He is publishing his hybrid game through his company called Hapatus. The player explores the wreck of a spaceship collecting equipment and solving puzzles.

An update for the fishing game Lost Lures, published by Bonus Stage Publishing, introduced a new fish species, new money-making missions, and various items that can be purchased with in-game currency. The game is still in development and is gradually expanding and evolving with new features.

Sledders, developed by Hanki Games, is a snowmobiling simulation game full of high-speed excitement. Its latest updates added more versatile mod support, replay features, and a retro-style snowmobile.

Null Vector Studios announced a massive content update for its Astro Protocol strategy game. The 4X title’s update completely overhauls the diplomacy system, making the experience deeper and more versatile.

Wreckfest 2, the racing game developed by Bugbear Entertainment, received its largest update to date. It introduces three new vehicles, including a school bus, as well as two new tracks. The update also includes a host of smaller improvements and additions.

Mobile game Masterionship Candies 2 by Huippee Heroes is now available on Android devices. The game takes players into the world of candy manufacturing through a puzzle gameplay format that combines fast reactions, good memory, and strategic thinking while keeping things fun.

BRAINSHELL game, developed and published by BRAINSHELL Team, delivers psychological horror and the experience of living as a ballistic missile through strong narrative storytelling. A PC demo of the game has been released on the Steam platform.

The hugely popular Angry Birds 2 by Rovio has introduced a new bird to its roster. Shade is a bird packed with a new kind of physics-defying power and is available to the flock for a limited time.

Rovio has brought Angry Birds Friends to browsers as a playable experience. When accessed via Red’s Club, progress syncs across devices and offers discounts on in-game purchases.

Developed by Horsefly Games and published by Coyote Time Publishing, the twin-stick roguelite shooter Orbital Overdrive has been released on Steam. The game delivers fast-paced action combined with score-based tactical decision-making in intense enemy encounters.

Developer-publisher Ikuturso has released a VR survival horror experience set in Finnish snowy landscapes. Perikoto focuses on a tense, horror-driven atmosphere and is suited for experienced VR users.

Red Stage Entertainment has released the action-adventure Raanaa – The Shaman Girl in collaboration with Miksapix Interactive. The puzzle-driven game follows a young shaman girl who protects endangered spirit worlds.

Channel37 has released the third update for its action-adventure game The Last Caretaker. The game, currently in early access, now takes players into space, while new threats also emerge from the sea.

Minuscule Mayhem has released its adventure game Back To Stables on Steam. The goal is to bring the stubborn horse George back to his home stable by solving puzzles.

Social First has re-released its beloved and social massively multiplayer game Pixel Worlds. With this fresh start, the game now runs more smoothly, offering a streamlined open-world experience with a strong focus on social interaction.

Top-down roguelite action game Echoes of Myth by Shifting Reality Interactive has been released on Steam. The game draws inspiration from Souls-like titles and their unforgiving nature, with a strong focus on character equipment.

Secret Exit has released its physics simulation Turbo Dismount 2 on Steam. The game’s appeal lies in unpredictable chaos, destruction, and playful experimentation with physics.

Silver Legend has announced its debut title Grey Legend: Survivors. At its core is a post-apocalyptic, social survival RPG where character psychology drives the course of events. The game is planned for release on Steam in 2027.

Gnomecraft has launched an early version of its virtual snowball fight game. Originally starting as a mod for Half-Life over 20 years ago, Snow War has evolved into a fast-paced and intense action experience centered around snowball combat.

2. Legendary Angry Birds, Trine, and Resogun composer Ari Pulkkinen is available for new projects

Following his tenure as Audio Lead for Sony PlayStation Studios’ SAROS, award-winning composer and Audio Director Ari Pulkkinen is now available for new projects. Known for creating the iconic soundtracks to Angry Birds, the Trine series, Nex Machina, Resogun, and Dead Nation, Pulkkinen brings over 24 years of industry-defining expertise to the table. Operating through his company, AriTunes, his deeply emotional, narrative-driven approach is supported by a veteran collective of elite collaborators, allowing his musical vision to scale seamlessly to any production.

3. playables.ai brings interactive, playable advertising

Quicksave Interactive has developed technology for interactive and playable ads. The AI-powered playables.ai offers a new way to integrate gameplay directly into advertising. Instead of passive ads, it provides audiences with an engaging, hands-on alternative. This makes it easier than ever to promote playable games quickly and effectively in a playable format. Investment firm HyperScope Ventures has joined in funding Quicksave’s development.

4. Sustainable Games Alliance announced three energy-saving extensions

The Sustainable Games Alliance (SGA) reached a new milestone by releasing three energy-saving application extensions for the popular game development platforms Unity, Unreal Engine, and Godot. The purpose of these extensions is to reduce idle load on gaming devices. This includes situations where the player is inactive in the game, meaning the demand for processing power decreases. In such cases, the game does not need to render graphics or run at full frame rate, since nothing is actively happening. This, in turn, helps reduce overall energy consumption.

5. The first Transmedia Game Jam brought together animation and games

The world’s first Transmedia Game Jam culminated in a showcase event in Helsinki, marking an important first step toward cross-industry collaboration. Participating teams presented playable prototypes to publishers, investors, and industry professionals. The teams highlighted the potential of existing animations to expand from linear storytelling into interactive formats.
