This newsletter shares the good news of the Finnish game industry once a month. The content is intended to be an interesting news roundup both for separate newsletter subscribers and for media representatives interested in games.

In December, several new games were released, along with updates to existing titles and early versions of upcoming ones. At the same time, highly anticipated news arrived about forthcoming AAA-class games from Finland’s leading studios Remedy and Housemarque. Crowdsorsa was honored with the Best Environmental Act award for its innovative game. The greenhouse gas emissions of the Finnish game industry were calculated and published for the first time, and the Finnish Game Industry DEI Summit was also held for the first time. Gaming focused PR agency Visionist celebrated its 25th anniversary.

1. New Game Releases and Updates in December 2025

Destroyer Burger, developed by Obscurant Games, is a fast-food restaurant simulator that challenges players with multitasking, nerves of steel, and stress management. The game will launch on Steam on January 22, 2026.

Skydome Entertainment released an update for its real-time strategy game The Hive, in which players control an underground insect colony using swarm intelligence and genetic manipulation. A role-playing style progression system adds further variety.

Plebeian Studio and Bonus Stage Publishing are preparing to launch the gladiator-themed fighting game Gladio Mori in autumn 2026. A new trailer has just been released, with a Steam demo coming soon. The game will also be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Spectarium Games is integrating its action RPG Myths into the Mythical Market, an NFT-based trading system enabling players to exchange in-game assets. The cooperative title will later be released on mobile and PC.

Studio Grail announced Grave Regrets, a dark-themed adventure game combining anime-style visual novel storytelling with psychological horror and detective fiction. It will be released for PC, macOS, and Linux, with the launch date to be announced later.

10tons revealed that an early access version of its upcoming survival RPG Dysplaced will be released on Steam on March 5, 2026. Set in a fantasy world, the game features an enchanting environment full of rich details.

Fingersoft launched a new browser-based counterpart to its popular mobile title Hill Climb Racing Lite at poki.com. The driving experience mixes familiar gameplay with fresh features.

EVIL CORP GAMES released the relaxing Unboxathon on Steam in early December. Players open mysterious boxes, collect valuable items, sell extras, and use profits to acquire better tools and crates.

FRACTiLE Games launched the twin-stick sci-fi shooter Phobos Down on Steam and Itch.io. In the game, players must recover lost cargo on a hostile, uncharted planet.

Snowmobile title Sledders by Hanki Games received its First Snow update in December, featuring a new map, weather system improvements, an overhauled soundscape, and other additions.

Remedy announced during The Game Awards that it is developing a sequel to its acclaimed action game Control. The new surreal entry, CONTROL Resonant, will launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Mac.

Housemarque unveiled a new trailer during The Game Awards for its upcoming action title Saros, due in April 2026 for PlayStation 5. The game combines mystery, stunning visuals, captivating characters, and top-tier action gameplay.

Wheelie King 8 by Kimble Games is an open-world motorcycle game emphasizing realism. Players can customize bikes, swap parts, and interact with others online. The release is planned for early 2026.

Mopeful Games is preparing to release a tactical roguelite combat game Wardrum. In the game, battles unfold to the rhythm of war drums in an enchanting fantasy setting. It will soon be available on Steam.

Developed by Notovia and Dreamloop Games, the horror title I’m on Observation Duty 8 has launched on Steam. Players monitor surveillance cameras for anomalies and report them to survive their shifts.

Channel37 rolled out the first update for its acclaimed survival game The Last Caretaker, focused on exploration, building, and problem-solving. The update adds new missions, locations, and gear.

Olento Productions released Soul Collector 2 on Steam. In this idle game, players automate actions using upgrade parts crafted from human souls and body parts, making for a relaxing, hands-off experience.

Amistech Games launched the long-awaited My Winter Car simulation game at the end of December. Alongside car repair, it authentically recreates Finnish winter life with challenging, humorous, and packed with small, delightful details.

2. Crowdsorsa won the Finnish Biodiversity Award and launched a new mobile game to improve city safety

Crowdsorsa was awarded the Finnish Biodiversity Awardfor its mobile game that enabled players to help combat invasive species in Finland. Players received monetary rewards for their contributions, which served as an effective incentive for removing lupines.

Crowdsorsa also released a new mobile game that allows residents to report unsafe locations in the city of Vantaa, Finland. Players earn one euro for each approved report, up to a daily maximum of ten euros. Reports are submitted in the mobile game with a photo and a short description, and users can optionally include suggestions for improvements. The goal of the game is to make the city areas safer for everyone.

3. The Finnish game industry calculated its greenhouse gas emissions for the first time

Neogames has published a report on the greenhouse gas emissions of the Finnish game industry. This marks the first time that the sector’s emissions have been assessed. The figures are based on companies’ own calculations or on simplified estimates using the Pelimetsä website’s calculator. According to Neogames’ estimate, Finland’s game industry produced 190,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) emissions in 2024. This figure also includes emissions from playing Finnish games. More than 91 percent of these emissions fall under indirect Scope 3 emissions.

4. DEI Summit advanced equality and responsibility in the game industry

In early December, Helsinki hosted the first-ever Finnish Game Industry DEI Summit.This hybrid event brought together industry leaders, HR professionals, and activists to discuss diversity, equity, and inclusion in workplaces. The event represented a significant step forward in the global dialogue about working culture and social responsibility within the game industry.

5. Visionist is 25 years old

The publisher of this newsletter, the PR agency Visionist, celebrated its 25th anniversary this week, having been founded in 2001. That’s an exceptionally long time for a PR agency focused on the gaming industry. Incidentally, the first Max Payne game and the first Xbox console were also released that same year.
